How the index works

  • Prices come from DeserTracker's own records of prices observed on public UAE online stores. A price is recorded when the price or the stock state of a tracked product changes.
  • Studies pool prices across stores and name no store. In a share, a median or another weighted number, each product counts once and no single store supplies more than half of the weight. A price gap between stores counts each matched pair once and caps each pair of stores at half of the weight instead.
  • A price counts for the time it was in effect. Days with poor collection coverage are left out.
  • Every study states its data window, its sample sizes and its method version, and offers its facts as JSON and CSV downloads.
