## Findings

### What we counted
From 1 May 2026 to 31 July 2026, we observed prices for 1,034,639 products. We recorded 1,582,803 price cuts; this total counts events. 54.9% of observed products had a cut.

### How often cuts are reversed within a week and a month
Within a week, 20.5% were fully reversed and 5.3% recovered at least half the cut, among 1,215,622 eligible cut events. Within a month, the corresponding shares were 56.9% and 8.6%, among 312,038 eligible cut events. These are different follow-up groups, not a single set of cuts tracked for both spans. Among cuts that fully reversed within the longest measured horizon, the median time to full reversal was 8.9 days; that is not a typical duration for every cut.

### Within one day: a lower limit
Among 1,539,930 eligible cut events, 1.7% were observed fully reversed and 0.2% recovered at least half the cut. The observed one-day figures are lower limits: a short reversal can fall between observations.

### How deep the cuts are
The median cut was 9.0% and the ninetieth-percentile cut was 30.2%. These cut totals count events, rather than unique products.

### How to use this when you shop
Use the observed reversal shares to judge whether waiting might matter, not as a promise about a particular product. Compare the current price with your budget and other prices you can actually obtain. The 9.0% median describes observed cuts, not the saving available to you now.

## Method
Prices are recorded when they change, not on a schedule. Facts were computed on 25 September 2026. Collection coverage is decided as follows: Before the daily check counter started, collection is inferred from the daily count of recorded price and stock changes per retailer. A quiet day and a stopped collector look the same, so days with less than half of the usual count are excluded. From the counter start, a day counts only when enough price checks succeeded that day.

A price cut is a drop between two recorded prices that meets both the percentage minimum and the AED minimum on the method page, with the product in stock at both prices.

A cut is fully reversed when a later recorded price is at or above the price before the cut. It is partly reversed when the price recovers at least half of the cut.

A cut counts for a time span only when our collection covered that whole span after the cut. Other cuts are left out of that span's share.

This study counts events: each cut counts once in the totals. In the shares and medians, each product counts once; no single store supplies more than half of the weight.

| For part of our collection, a change in stock with no change in price leaves no record, so some out-of-stock time counts as time at the last price. |

| Many products are checked less than once a day, so a cut that was reversed within a day can show up late. The one-day share is a lower limit. |
