## Findings

### How we sampled
The study covers 1,016,973 products with an in-stock sampled moment between 1 May 2026 and 31 July 2026. We made 4,189,682 eligible week-later comparisons and 2,084,629 eligible month-later comparisons. These are counts of sampled moments, not distinct shoppers or purchases.

### After a week
A week later, the observed price was lower in 16.2% of eligible comparisons, the same in 67.3%, and higher in 12.6%. Among comparisons with a lower price, the median reduction was 9.1%.

### After a month
A month later, the observed price was lower in 37.9% of eligible comparisons, the same in 28.4%, and higher in 29.9%. Among comparisons with a lower price, the median reduction was 10.0%.

### When the product was not available later
In eligible week-later comparisons, the product was unavailable at the later moment in 3.9% of cases. In eligible month-later comparisons, it was unavailable at the later moment in 3.8% of cases. Unavailable is separate from lower, same, and higher prices.

### How to use this when you shop
These results describe observed comparisons across 1,016,973 products, not a forecast for a particular item. Weigh the chance of a lower price against the possibility of a higher price or an unavailable product, and check the current price before buying.

## Method
Prices are recorded when they change, not on a schedule. Computed 25 September 2026. Collection coverage is determined as follows: Before the daily check counter started, collection is inferred from the daily count of recorded price and stock changes per retailer. A quiet day and a stopped collector look the same, so days with less than half of the usual count are excluded. From the counter start, a day counts only when enough price checks succeeded that day.

We take one sample per product once a week at midday UAE time: the price in force at that moment, for products in stock.

We compare it with the price in force a week and a month later. Lower and higher use the same minimum change as a price cut on the method page.

A sample counts only when the later moment is inside the study window and our collection covered it.

The counts are sampled moments. In the shares and medians, each product counts once; no single store supplies more than half of the weight.

For week-later comparisons, 427,935 sampled moments had a later moment beyond the window, and 1,279,153 had a later moment in a collection gap or before the next recorded price after one. For month-later comparisons, the corresponding counts were 1,408,257 and 2,403,884.

| For part of our collection, a change in stock with no change in price leaves no record, so some out-of-stock time counts as time at the last price. |
| We do not know why a price changed. A promotion, a seller change, and a correction look the same in our records. |
| Delivery fees, coupons, and membership prices are not in the recorded price. |
| A shopper sees one moment. Our moments are a fixed weekly grid, not the times people shop. |
| If a store changed a price and changed it back before our next check, we did not see the change. |
| After a collection gap, a product counts again only from its next recorded price. |
| Coverage is measured per store and day, not per product. |
| Some stores were left out because collection was incomplete or they had too few products. |
